Proud Sponsors for Cystic Fibrosis!

On February 22, 2019, Dr. Banks and Dr. Desrosiers attended the “Face Off with CF” gala at the Chateau Lacombe. They were “Penalty Shot Sponsors” and enjoyed an evening of entertainment, silent and live auctions, and a fabulous dinner hosted by the Edmonton Cystic Fibrosis Chapter with their honorary chairperson Ryan Nugent Hopkins. After the event, Dr. Banks and Dr. Desrosiers were delighted to receive a visit from Rory, a 10 year old boy with Cystic Fibrosis. A Visit to Martha’s Day Care and After School Care

Recently we had the pleasure of visiting Martha’s Day Care and After School Care to educate the kids about their dental care, and  talk about what a visit to the dentist might be like. Sarah, Dr Kwon, and Norma had a great time meeting all the children at the facility, and look forward to our next field trip in the community. If you would like a visit from our staff  to help teach your kids about Dental care at your facility, please feel free to contact our office!

Invisalign Aligners Improve Smile

Invisalign clear aligners are one way that we may be able to improve the look and function of your teeth. Just like with traditional metal wire braces, Invisalign aligners are able to move teeth to straighten, upright and rotate them into their ideal positions for many purposes. The big benefit, however, is that they are clear and largely imperceptible to most people that you will interact with in your everyday life. They can also be removed if you have a work meeting or special event. We may suggest Invisalign as a way to help you clean your teeth better if… Read more »

Fluoridation puts Edmonton ahead of Calgary in child dental health, study finds By Keith Gerein, Edmonton Journal, Edmonton Journal Rates of childhood tooth decay have increased faster in Calgary than in Edmonton the past decade, says a new provincewide study in which researchers link the disparity to Calgary’s decision to stop fluoridating its water. “Our results show that even after a relatively short period of time, we have seen a negative effect of removing fluoride from the drinking water,” said Lindsay McLaren, a public health researcher at the University of Calgary and lead author of the study. “It’s one piece… Read more »

Recently a patient of ours, requested some much needed items, for a trip to Mexico, where she has volunteered numerous times to rescue and be a part of a solution to an overwhelming problem often seen across continents. Upon her return she provided us with a brief synopsis of her trip, and pictures we… Read more »

Six more weeks of Winter!!!!!

It is official the groundhog determines six more weeks of winter. Hats off to all our patients who braved the deep snow, wet rain, frozen streets, and frigid temperatures to keep their appointments through these trying months. The seasons may change but our teeth still require  TLC all year long. Many patients have found using a great toothbrush, good brushing skills, and the right toothpaste, keeps their decay rate minimal. One of the brushes we recommend is the Oral B Electric tooth brush. Features Of A Power Toothbrush Simply stated, rechargeable electric toothbrushes (or “power” toothbrushes) provide superior plaque removal… Read more »
